Mini Twelve Step House, Inc. is one of the first residential rehabilitation facilities to help women suffering from alcoholism and drug addiction.
Since opening its doors in 1971, Mini Twelve Step has successfully aided women and their families living in urban environments who have historically battled disproportionate social issues including homelessness, domestic violence, poverty, illiteracy, mental illness and unemployment.
Philosophy & Mission:
Mini Twelve Step ascribes to a philosophy of rehabilitating the whole person. The residential, transitional housing, outpatient and aftercare “bus stops” provide treatment designed to facilitate the journey to recovery by addressing the needs of every aspect of participants lives from physical and psychological, to relapse prevention and vocational rehabilitation. Mini Twelve Step treatment programs enable individuals to change their lives and reach their full potential.

Mini House is the agency’s primary residential service site, and the location of the Mini Twelve Step House Inc. Residential Treatment program. This residential treatment facility provides a therapeutic environment in a homelike setting where women can begin to regain their self-respect and dignity. Peer-based case management and mentoring encourage trust and self-disclosure while empowering the women to build the skills necessary for a sober, healthy life. This secure setting combined with structure, education and mutual support facilitate recovery and help women maintain their commitment to sobriety. The thirty-one (31) bed home provides treatment for up to six months. The Residential Treatment program consists of 180 days of continuous substance abuse prevention and intervention. Extensive exposure to recovery principles are integrated with day-to-day activities designed to help women learn to meet life challenges free of drugs and alcohol.

University Mini House is the location of the Mini Twelve Step Inc. Transitional Living program, which offers a drug free living residence geared toward recovering women and their young children in need of stable housing. This twenty (20) bed facility offers a maximum of 12 months transitional housing for women and their children, primarily those women who have completed the Mini House Residential Treatment program.

Solutions Family Resource Center offers both the Mini Twelve Step Inc. Outpatient Treatment and Aftercare Relapse Prevention programs to men and women whose primary diagnosis is alcohol and other drug dependence. Services include both individual counseling and peer group sessions. The center also offers community run groups such as AA, NA, and C.A. Some services are available in Spanish.
